‘Call Tyrone’ by Erykah Badu / Full Cover by Southern-fried
[NEWS] HOUSTON, TEXAS … September 7, 2012. Southern-Fried, born as Morgan-English.
She hails from Texas where football is king. Wanting to be in the spotlight from the early age of 4 she picked cheerleaders.
Just like millions of other young girls all around the world, Morgan says she always wanted to be a singing star – but never thought it possible. She would dance in the living room while watching Beyonce’ perform at the BET Awards trying to mimic ever move – wondering, hoping, dreaming of what it might actually be like to someday become a famous performer. She began rapping in high school and would freestyle with the other girls at cheer practice after school.
Morgan studied hard and got great grades in high school and earned a full presidential academic scholarship to Prairie View A&M (Texas A&M affiliate) in the math department. Morgan has been performing Gospel mimes at school and was named Ms. Congeniality for the Freshman Pageant.

It got so quiet at the end of the pageant when they were about to announced the 1st Runner-up and then the winner – to the screams of joy from the audience. Southern-fried stood in silence, crushed of course, and thinking the award ceremony was over walked off the back of the stage and began to cry her eyes out in the back. Afterwards one of the judges came back stage and said, “You walked off the stage, why?” Because I thought it was over,” replied Southern-fried.
The judge smiled and handed her a bouquet of flowers, her crown and her two awards; Miss. Congeniality and 2nd Runner-up. Her big tears snapped to this huge smile.
And what more could we ask then for one of our Cinderella Slipper™ Girls to be back-stage with a smile as big as an absolutely still Wyoming night sky, yet no one around to hear.
